As summer approaches, we are itching to get outside and sink our feet in the sand. When possible, a beach vacation is a great way to recharge both body and mind as it brings you closer to nature and takes you away from all the hustle and bustle of the city.

If you plan to take a beach vacation this summer, here are a few tips to get you ready.

1. Exercise

As it is with every occasion and location, there’s a certain dress code to follow. At the beach, it’s not uncommon to show a lot of skin and to do this without much thought, you want to feel confident.

If you have not been faithful to your exercise regimen, this is a good time to start. Incorporate exercises that will help tone your body and have you feeling confident in your bathing suit.

2. Clean Up Your Diet

While exercise will work on toning your body, you can speed up the process by paying close attention to what you eat. Limit your carb intake and replace that with fruits and leafy vegetables, as this will reduce belly fat.

Your face is also part of your body, and the last thing you want popping up are pimples and blackheads, so cut down on greasy foods and drink lots of water.

3. Take Health Precautions

If your travel destination is a whole other country with a culture and environment different from what you’re used to, it is best to see a doctor first.

Equally, check the CDC’s website for country-specific health information before travelling. In addition, you should equally take the important medication with you in emergencies or when you consume foods that cause itching. Failure to do this can ruin your trip.

4. Pick the Right Bathing Suit

With a variety of bathing suits out there, the best advice here is to pick the right one for your body type. Choose a bathing suit that enhances and highlights your best features.

When you go bikini shopping, try on as many suits as possible from different designers and with different styles. This is the best way to know what works and looks good on you.

5. Get Rid of Body Hair and Exfoliate

Once again, spending time at the beach will expose more skin than usual. Take time to remove hair around your bikini area, armpits, and legs.

To make this easier, there are many hair removal options out there, from shaving to waxing and even laser treatments. Don’t go crazy here; simply opt for the one you are most comfortable with. Remember to avoid saltwater immediately after shaving, so it is best to do this a day or two before your trip.

Furthermore, exfoliating your skin removes dead cells and enables any skin product you use to be more effective. Immediately after exfoliation, always moisturize so you can keep your skin looking healthy.
